Each scenario uses historical market data to estimate how an investment performed between a chosen start date and the latest available market date.

We use a clear date, such as an IPO, an early available trading date or a fixed comparison date.
Calculate the return
The starting investment is divided by the historical price and valued using the latest available price.
Explain the journey
We add the major developments, market events and risks investors faced along the way.
Results may differ slightly from brokerage statements because of dividends, fees, taxes, currency movements, fractional shares or data availability. Each scenario explains its methodology where relevant.
